Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated General Surgical Pathologist to join our pathology practice in Arizona. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diagnosing a wide variety of surgical pathology specimens and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary medical team. Key Responsibilities
- Provide accurate, timely diagnosis and reporting of surgical pathology specimens from a variety of organ systems.
- Examine gross and microscopic specimens and integrate findings from ancillary studies such as immunohistochemistry and molecular pathology.
- Participate in intraoperative consultations (frozen sections) and rapid diagnostic assessments.
- Collaborate with clinicians, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to provide diagnostic and prognostic information that supports patient management.
- Attend and contribute to tumor boards and multidisciplinary case reviews as needed.
- Maintain high standards of quality, documentation, and compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements (e.g., CLIA, CAP).
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support new assay development or validation as applicable.
Education Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic & Clinical Pathology.
Experience Requirements
- 2–5 years of post-residency experience in general surgical pathology preferred; however, newly trained pathologists with strong training and references will be considered.
- Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing a broad range of benign and malignant surgical specimens.
- Familiarity with current diagnostic tools including immunohistochemistry and molecular testing.
Licensure & Certification
- Board certification or board eligibility in Anatomic Pathol ogy or Anatomic & Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology (ABP).
- Eligible for or currently holds an unrestricted Arizona medical license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Subspecialty fellowship training in areas such as gastrointestinal, breast, gynecologic, or genitourinary pathology is a plus but not required.
