We are seeking a skilled and board-certified General Surgical Pathologist to join our expanding pathology team in Fayetteville, NC. The ideal candidate will possess strong diagnostic expertise in surgical pathology and cytopathology and demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills with clinicians and laboratory staff. This position offers a balanced and fulfilling mix of case variety, professional autonomy, and community impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and timely diagnosis on surgical pathology and cytopathology specimens.
- Interpret gross and microscopic findings and issue comprehensive pathology reports.
- Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, clinical consultations, and quality assurance activities.
- Engage in intraoperative frozen section evaluations as needed.
- Collaborate with laboratory personnel and clinicians to ensure diagnostic accuracy and optimal patient care.
- Maintain compliance with CAP, CLIA, and other regulatory standards.
- Participate in laboratory management, continuing education, and professional development activities.
Qualifications
- Education: MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Training: Completion of an accredited residency in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology.
- Certification: Board certified (or eligible) in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic/Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
- Licensure: Eligible for medical licensure in the state of North Carolina.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in general surgical pathology preferred, though strong recent graduates will be considered.
- Fellowship training in subspecialties such as gastrointestinal, breast, genitourinary, or cytopathology is a plus.
