Job Descriptions:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Breast Pathologist to join our pathology team in Philadelphia, PA. The Breast Pathologist will be responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, and reporting of breast tissue specimens, working closely with multidisciplinary teams including surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals. This role plays a critical part in supporting accurate diagnosis and treatment planning for patients with benign and malignant breast diseases. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong expertise in breast pathology, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to high-quality patient care and collaborative practice.


Responsibilities

  • Examine and interpret breast tissue specimens, including biopsies, lumpectomies, and mastectomies.
  • Provide accurate and timely diagnostic reports related to benign and malignant breast diseases.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and collaborate with oncology, radiology, and surgical teams.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic techniques including immunohistochemistry, molecular pathology, and other ancillary studies.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory quality standards, regulatory requirements, and institutional policies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting within laboratory information systems.
  • Consult with clinicians regarding pathology findings and diagnostic considerations.
  • Participate in quality assurance initiatives and continuous improvement efforts within the pathology department.
  • Contribute to education and mentorship of residents, fellows, and laboratory staff when applicable.
  • Stay current with emerging developments, guidelines, and research in breast pathology.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Anatomic Pathology or AP/CP residency.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Anatomic Pathology or AP/CP through the American Board of Pathology.
  • Fellowship training in Breast Pathology or Surgical Pathology with significant breast pathology experience preferred.
  • Eligible for or currently holding a Pennsylvania medical license.
  • Strong diagnostic skills with expertise in breast disease pathology.
  • Experience with immunohistochemistry and molecular diagnostic techniques.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and patient care.
  • Academic or teaching experience is a plus but not required.
