Job Descriptions:

The Remote General Surgical Pathologist provides expert histopathological evaluation and interpretation of tissue specimens to support preclinical research, translational studies, and biomarker development. This role operates in a fully remote capacity, leveraging digital pathology platforms to deliver accurate, timely, and high-quality pathology assessments while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a virtual environment.


Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret digitized histologic slides from animal and/or human research tissues using digital pathology systems
  • Generate comprehensive pathology reports to support preclinical and translational studies
  • Provide consultative input on study design, tissue evaluation strategies, and biomarker identification
  • Collaborate remotely with scientists, histology teams, and project managers to meet study timelines and objectives
  • Participate in virtual client meetings, presentations, and scientific discussions as needed
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of pathology data and reporting
  • Perform peer reviews and contribute to quality assurance processes
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with internal teams across different locations and time zones
  • Stay current with advancements in digital pathology, toxicologic pathology, and research methodologies

Qualifications / Requirements

  • MD or DO degree with board certification (or eligibility) in Anatomic Pathology
  • Active medical license (or ability to obtain, if required for specific projects)
  • Fellowship training preferred (e.g., surgical pathology, subspecialty, or toxicologic pathology)
  • 3–5+ years of experience in pathology; experience in research, biotech, or CRO environments preferred
  • Experience with digital pathology platforms (e.g., whole slide imaging systems) strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with animal models and/or preclinical pathology is a plus
  • Knowledge of GLP and regulatory standards is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in a remote work environment
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and collaborate effectively across distributed teams
  • Reliable internet connection and ability to maintain data security and confidentiality standards
