Isolated Pelvicalyceal System Invasion in Renal Cell Carcinoma: Diagnostic Criteria and Prognosis Relative to pT2 Tumors

This study aimed to establish reproducible morphologic criteria for PCS invasion and compare outcomes of isolated PCS-invasive RCC with pT2 tumors. Restricting pT3a classification to tumors ulcerating through the PCS urothelium identifies a subset with significantly increased disease-specific mortality, supporting the prognostic value of refined morphologic criteria.
